Friday, May 4, 6:00 – 8:00 PM   Single Session fee $35

Dharma and Tantra: At the center of the spiritual tradition of yoga is an emphasis upon ‘dharma‘ – which includes not only the fulfillment of one’s own nature and potential, but one’s role and responsibility to the larger community.  We’ll be comparing the more community-based sense of dharma with the more nuanced understanding of individual conscience and spiritual evolution.

Saturday, May 5, 11:00 AM – 2:30 PM  Single Session fee $80

The Hips: Hip openers are among the most satisfying and powerful yoga poses – but they can also cause problems.

.

• This session will go into the anatomy of the hips, as well as fundamental principles of yoga alignment as they pertain to the health of the hip joints.  Build your own practice with quintessential and foundational 'hip' opening yoga poses.

• Explore the sacrum from the perspective of the actions of the hip bones in hip openers and twists. The topic of sacral health will be introduced, taking into account the role of the psoas and ‘core muscles.’

Saturday, May 5, 3:30 – 7:00 PM  Single Session fee $80

The Psoas, the Sacrum and the ‘Core’: ‘Core Strength’ is an enormously popular term these days, and yoga is especially suited to the development of ‘core strength.’ But what is the ‘core?’ It’s more than the abdominals, and ‘core strength’ is more than simply abdominal training.

• This session will be an in-depth look at the psoas, and how yoga works with the psoas in relation to the development of the ‘core.’

• This will be the basis of completing our look at the health of the sacrum and low back, and how to care for them in yoga.

• The relationship of the alignment of the upper body – especially the head and neck – to the health of the low back and sacrum will also be explored, with approaches to asana solutions for these misalignments.

Sunday, May 6, 9AM – 1PM  Single Session fee $85

The Shoulders: This session will be a full look into the shoulders – their structure, assessment of shoulder problems, therapeutic work with the shoulders, and also an approach to working safely with the shoulders in all classes of poses.

Consideration of the health of the wrists and elbows will be included, as well as more in-depth work with the health of the neck.
